State Highway 193 Roadway to Be Closed from 49 Junction to Chili Bar in El Dorado County overnights beginning Monday, July 24.
The overnight closures will be from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Monday through Friday through August 11 from the Highway 49 intersection in Placerville to Chili Bar. Emergency vehicles will be allowed to go through the closure and a detour will be provided (see detour map below).
The overnight closures are necessary to allow heavy equipment to rebuild a 500-foot section of the highway that was damaged during the winter storms. A new retaining wall already has been constructed to solidify the slope that gave way during the storms. The $2.9 million emergency contract is being constructed by Myers and Sons.
During the full closure, the detour at the intersection of Highways 49 and 193 in Placerville will be Highway 49 north to Marshall Road to Garden Valley Road to 193 south. The detour for the closure at Chili Bar on 193 will be 193 north to Garden Valley Road to Marshall Road to 49 south.
