Live Music, Food & Beverages - Sunday, July 30th

Please join the El Dorado County State of Jefferson Committee at the Celebration & Rally, to greet our own local runner, Herve' Leconte, as he completes the  second day of his 500 mile, 12 day “Run for Representation.”

On Sunday, July 30, from 5 to 8 pm, invite your friends and family to join you for an evening of live music, performed by Cheryl Kent & Hickory Breeze, along with Mike Lenhart and Royann Zangrando.  Also in the offering are BBQ hot dogs, chips and a beverage for only $5.  Ice cream novelties & additional beverages will also be available for $1 each.

This all takes place at the Veterans Memorial Building (VMB), 130 Placerville Drive (next to the County Fairgrounds). Herve' will be entering Placerville Drive, from Fair Lane (near Hwy 50 on ramp), at approximately 6 pm. Well wishers are also expected to line up along Highway 49 and elsewhere in the County as he makes his way from Jackson to the Veterans Memorial Building.

There will be a short ceremony when Herve and his wife, Julie arrive. 2017 Run for Representation souvenir buttons and Jefferson gear, flags and other items will be available for purchase, on Sunday. So, be sure to turn out and offer your well wishes to Herve' and Julie,  as they continue their 500 Mile – 12 Day, Run, through  15 Counties, between July 29th to August 9th, all for representation and liberty.

Everyone is invited to attend a Rally & Celebration, to welcome Herve' Leconte, as he completes the second leg of his 12 day, 500 mile run, through 15 counties, to draw attention to the lack of representation for citizens living in the rural counties of Northern California aka State of Jefferson

Herve', a 57-year old resident of Camino, will begin his run on July 29th, in Sonora (Tuolumne County), continuing on Highway 49, with stops in Angels Camp and Jackson. On Sunday,  July 30,  he will travel to El Dorado County, arriving at the Veteran's Memorial Building, next to the County Fairgrounds, off Placerville Drive, where he will be welcomed by well wishers at a celebration and rally, from 5 to 8pm,  that will include music, food and drinks. State of Jefferson gear and Run for Representation souvenir buttons and pledge forms will also be available.

Herve' has been a supporter of Jefferson, since the first El Dorado County Town Hall in 2015. Last year he came to the El Dorado County State of Jefferson Committee, telling them that he would like to do this Run. Herve' is well known in El Dorado County for using his hobby & love of running to raise funds and awareness for causes that are near and dear to his heart. Both he and his wife Julie coordinate the Military Family Support Group and Herve has done numerous runs for local law enforcement, first responders and veterans.

In May, Citizens for Fair Representation dba State of Jefferson, filed a lawsuit against the State of California for lack of representation and dilution of vote. Herve' felt this was the perfect time for his “Run for Representation,” with the first arguments in the case, scheduled to be heard on August 25th, in the United States District Court, Eastern District, Sacramento Division.

All are urged to cheer Herve' on as he arrives at the intersection of Fair Lane and Placerville Drive. On Monday morning he will continue on Hwy 49, running through Coloma, Pilot Hill and Cool, probably between 7 and 9 am,  proceeding to Auburn. The last leg of his run will end in Yreka, Siskiyou County, on August 9th.

Runners are welcome to run a stretch of miles, with Herve', but are required to wear bright orange or yellow clothing and carry plenty of water. Pledge forms are available, for individuals or businesses to donate a certain dollar amount per miles run, one mile to five hundred, or a lump sum for Herve' or other runners.  All donations will go to the State of Jefferson Formation Legal Fund.

Remember to watch for the banner and flags flying, at the Veterans Memorial Building. For more information about the Rally and Celebration or the Run, please contact Mike Thomas, 530-626-1969 or Terry Gherardi, 530-677-4294.
