In South Lake Tahoe, Sample the Sierra is a unique farm-to-fork festival held on Sept. 16. The festival offers the chance to taste the creations of local Sierra Nevada talent – from food, wine and spirits to fresh produce and art. The event's Sierra Chefs Challenge features local chefs competing for the coveted Sierra Chef title. Sample the Sierra, Lake Tahoe's largest farm-to-fork festival, celebrates the talent of the Sierra Nevada region via food, wine, beer, spirits, produce and art! This event brings together local chefs/restaurants with neighboring growers/producers to turn out scrumptious samples craftily paired with the appropriate wine or brew/ The festival marketplace includes locally made goods such as jam, soups, honey, and olive oil along with specialty products created right here in the county, such as fine art, jewelry, and crafts. for you to taste. Sample the Sierra also features the Sierra Chefs Challenge, a cooking challenge between three regional chefs cooking with locally sourced ingredients.
