West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada:
A Pacific storm is still on track to impact Interior Northern California Friday into early next week. The heaviest precipitation and strongest winds are expected Friday night through Saturday. Snow levels will lower below the Sierra passes on Friday. Precipitation is forecast to wind down from west to east Saturday afternoon and Saturday night. Another system is expected on Sunday.
Motorists traveling into the mountain late this week into early next week should be prepared for winter weather conditions.
Impacts: More than two feet of snow are possible over the higher terrain which could impact travel. Slick roads can be expected with localized flooding from leaf clogged drains and ash flows around recently burned areas.
Rainfall Totals: One-half to one and a half inches in the Central Valley and coastal range, and 2 to 4 inches in the Sierra Nevada and Shasta County mountains.
Snowfall Totals: 8 to 15 inches above 6500 feet up to two to two and a half feet over Lassen Peak and the Northern Sierra Nevada crest.
Winds: Southwest wind gusts up to 35 mph in the Sacramento Valley Friday afternoon and up to 45 mph over the higher mountain elevations.
