Stolen Vehicle Leads to Arrest of 31 Year Old Joseph Leonard in Placerville

By Cmdr. Kim Nida, PPD –  Joseph Leonard was arrested by Placerville Police Officers in connection with driving a stolen vehicle.

On October 5th, 2016 around 8 am, Placerville Police Officers were called to a residence in the 1500 Block of Country Club Drive regarding a sighting of a recently reported stolen vehicle. 
When officers responded to the neighborhood, they located the stolen vehicle parked in front of a residence. Officers contacted a subject nearby who verbally identified himself as Joseph Leonard, 31 years old. 

Officers learned Leonard had an outstanding no bail warrant for Vehicle Theft – CVC 10851(a) and was currently on formal probation out of El Dorado County for the same charge. 

Leonard was arrested for the outstanding warrant and after further investigation, it was confirmed he was the driver of the stolen vehicle. Leonard was booked for Vehicle Theft – CVC 10851 (a), Violation of Probation – PC 1203.2 (a), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – H&S 11364 (a). Leonard was booked at the county jail for the above listed charges and warrant. He is being held without bail.

The police department would like to remind the community to lock their cars when parked and remove any valuables from inside the vehicle.
