President - In the BIG race -  [NOT full election results, the vote in El Dorado County] Sanders, the "Progressive" [far left] Candidate take the win from Biden, the Centrist Democratic front-runner with a 4,770 votes for Sanders to Biden's 4,663.  Incumbent Republican President sweeps the County with over 95% of the "R" votes taken.

US Representative 4th District sees TOM MCCLINTOCK taking a slight majority of votes giving him an expected win.

State Senator is won by BRIAN DAHLE with almost 69% of the votes cast.

State Assembly 5th District was uncontested and reseats FRANK BIGELOW. State Assembly 6th District was won by incumbent KEVIN KILEY with 63% of in-county votes.

County Supervisor 1st Supervisorial District votes revealed Incumbent John Hidal's weakness as Former Supervisor Ron Briggs will continue campaigning against him in a Run-Off election. This Supervisor Seat is two of three races that will continue into a Runoff election. JOHN HIDAHL almost avoids a Second immediate camping to retain his seat as he failed to reach the magic number of OVER 50% of the votes with 44.99% of the votes and Ron Briggs in 2nd place with 24% of the vote.  CAVEAT -- This race result is SO close that it is expected that Supervisor Hidal will contest the results and request a recount to verify that he did not get a few more votes that would push him past the 50% threshold to have an outright win and therefore avoid a costly and grueling Run-Off, but at this point we are facing a second round of campaigning and voting in 1st Supervisorial District.  Unless a recount should reveal that Hidahl won over 50% of the votes, this voter group will be at it for many more months of active campaigning.

County Supervisor 2nd Supervisorial District is the second of three Supervisorial races that will keep going to November as it is a run-off between George Turnboo that took the most votes with 26.66% to second place KEN PIMLOTT's 22.75%.  They will continue in a Run-off starting this day and continuing to the November election.
Notable in this race was that 4 candidates each took nearly 20% of the votes making this an unusually tightly and broadly contested race.  Of note is that this District boundaries changed in recent times to go from mostly Rural to a proportional mix of Rural and Sub-Urban voters.  Ray Nutting and George Turnboo are perennial candidates and have a tight grip on the rural voters that know them well.  This face off against sub-urban voters of Cameron Park.

In this race we saw a few notable results:

-- Ray Nutting, Former Supervisor did not do well.  A popular candidate for several terms was plagued by a record of legal fights that he was never convicted of still was fresh in many people's mind as it was only a few years ago that he lost his office over charges that many describe as politically motivates was still an unwanted campaign spector for Nutting. His most troublesome moment came when a video was posted that showed Nutting swapping his campaign literature for an opponent campaign materials.  Nutting gave a fair explanation as it being an unintentional error made on an exhausting campaign, but the voters were unwilling to give Nutting the needed support in crowed field and he will not be in the run-off as his take was 20.68%, a respectable take in a crowded race but only the top two candidates will go to run-off and Nutting is third in a group of candidates that each took just over 20% each.

-- Second-tier candidates are new to politics and are new to applied politics [running for office] resulting in KEVIN A LOEWEN taking almost 5% and TYLER KUSKIE taking over 3%.  Not winners in this election cycle but likely to show up on future ballots.

-- Dark Horse "Progressive Liberal" candidate did well in a field of Men.  In quite many "Progressive" Democrats were pushing FELICITY CARLSON as a Liberal push into RED El Dorado County and she had a strong advantage of being a Female in a field of all men with three being what could be described as the Strong Alpha-male types.  MOST voters are Females!  This was a strong advantage but she had a very weak platform and did not catch the needed votes to move forward into the Run-off as she was 4th place with 20.62% of the votes received.

-- GEORGE TURNBOO and KEN PIMLOTT move ahead to battle-on taking 26.66% to 22.75%  respectively. Today is the first day of their head-to-head combat that will pit South-County rural needs/wants against those that mostly live in CSD/sub-urban areas of Cameron Park.  We will all see how that progresses over the next few months.

County Supervisor 3rd Supervisorial District sees Wendy Thomas win handily wit 2/3 of the vote count.  Congratulations to our Newest Supervisor Wendy Thomas, to be sworn into Office at the end of the year.

Republican Party County Central Committee - Four candidates ran for three available seats.  DOUGLAS WILLIAMS takes 31%, followed by KATHLEEN BAILEY with 27%, and GERALDINE "GERRI" GREGO rounding it off with 25% of the votes.

All of the uncontested races for Judge end as expected, all won.

In El Dorado County Los Rios Community College District Measure E was handed a sound defeat with 67.31% of our county voters saying, "NO."

El Dorado Union High School District Measure A, "NO" with 62.51% voting in the Negative.  This was the theme for Bonds with Black Oak Mine Unified School District Measure H, and Rescue Union School District Measure G going down with high percentages of NOES.

Lake Valley Fire Protection District Measure B failed to meet the needed 66.66% vote [2/3] to raise a new tax but with a respectable 58.60%.   Most other ballot issues of this kind effect a small groups of people [under 600] and I will omit them for the sake of brevity, but official number [for our county] are posted at: https://www.edcgov.us/Government/Elections/Documents/20200303.pdf

Let the campaigns start today for 2/5 of the county residents to decide who shall be the final two Supervisors out of a body of five.
