UPDATE - WE NEED THE HELP FROM OUR COMMUNITY!! PLEASE READ!!
This is a follow up of the man who stole the wheelchair and bear yesterday. We have an AMAZING update. PLEASE READ!
This morning our director Randy was sitting on the bench on Main Street across from the court house minding his own business, when Nate, the man who stole the wheelchair & bear yesterday happened to stroll right by him! What are the chances of that?!! How cool!!
Thanks to some of you who commented on our post and gave us his name, Randy was able to get his attention and they had a heart to heart conversation.
The backstory is that Randy has noticed him for about 3 years and he always had a girlfriend with him. They were inseparable. Nate looked really sad and Randy asked him what happened. His girlfriend had left him and that’s why he stole the wheelchair. He figured if he was to ever find another girlfriend he would use the wheelchair to push her around so she wouldn’t have to walk everywhere with him.
Nate was very apologetic and kept saying sorry as they spoke. Randy asked Nate what he needed Nate said, “Do you have a blanket? Someone stole my blanket.” He also asked for some food. Randy arranged to meet Nate a few hours later so he could go get him some of items. Randy went and got Nate a sleeping bag, pillow, hygiene, deodorant, food, a gift card to KFC and a few other things. As planned, they met again and Randy had the opportunity to pray with him.
We believe redemption is possible and that everyone deserves a second chance.
He really wants to get a job. He thinks he has a job secured at Grocery Outlet, but it’s incredibly hard to keep a job while your homeless.
THIS IS WHAT WE NEED YOUR HELP WITH:
1. For someone to give Nate a job
2. For someone to get Nate a place to live
He needs a helping hand, not a hand out!! As you probably know, we don’t have a bleeding heart but we do have a heart to help the lost and broken!
If you can offer either of those things to Nate we can connect you with him. (We got his phone number)
If you can’t offer these we ask that you please SHARE this post so maybe someone on YOUR friends list will see this and is able to help him.
-How many of you have ever needed a second chance?!
-How many of you have ever stole something and felt awful about it?
-How many of you have experience the pain of a broken heart?
We would venture to say most of us have! [I sure have Randy. Let's see if we can help this fellow get on a better path in life. Cris.]
We sincerely hope someone will find it in their heart to help. We believe in our community and we believe that the people of Placerville will step up to help Nate!!
I saw this guy pushing the wheelchair and giant bear down Mo Flat road right after he stole it and made a very poor assumption. As Paul Harvey would say, "And now you know — the rest of the story." - Cris Alarcon
