Deputies stopped the Pictured vehicle Friday night. The driver identified as Nicholas Priest ran from the stop. 

Priest was also wanted in connection with escaping from CHP during an arrest. 

Deputies located drugs, scale, packaging, money, portable radio with law enforcement channels, scanner, burglary tools and a explosive device. 

The explosive device was rendered safe by EDSO Explosive Ordinance Detail. 

Priest was arrested later that evening at his residence where Deputies found him sleeping.

Placerville, CA – Retired corporate executive Chuck Smith has completed filing the necessary paperwork with El Dorado County elections officials to place his name on the November ballot for the EID Board of Directors in Division 1.  Smith has been serving the community as a STAR volunteer with the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office and the El Dorado County Sherriff’s Posse.  

In a post-filing interview Smith said the he wanted to further serve our community by using his corporate management experience to help improve EID and protect our water from out of the area special interests.

“While working in the corporate world I learned how to make businesses function better and become more successful,” explained Smith, “now that I’m retired, I want to give back to our community by helping improve the way we run EID”.

“My top two goals, if chosen by the ratepayers, will be to protect our water from out of county special interests and work to expand the precious water supply we all depend on,” said Smith, “I understand our governmental system and will work with our representatives in Washington and Sacramento to help EID receive funding for necessary improvement projects and breakthrough barriers imposed by out of touch bureaucrats”.

“To me”, said Smith, “nothing is more important to our water security then protecting our water from Southern California developers, environmental extremists, and overzealous government regulators”.

“Everyone knows that the corporate world does a better job at minimizing cost drivers,” said Smith, “I want to put my experience with reducing costs to work for EID to help keep our water and sewer rates from rising to high”.

“Finally,” said Smith, “I want everyone to know that they can count on me to never vote for an unbalanced budget, wasteful policy, or refuse to meet with any individual or group wanting to discuss ways to improve EID”.

The Vital Statistics Office of the El Dorado County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) has been recognized by the State of California for its efficiency in service. Each year, the California Department of Public Health, Center for Health Statistics and Informatics provides the Local Registration Efficiency Award (Medium District) to the top counties in the State that most efficiently process their county’s information into the State’s Electronic Death Registry System.  

On average last year, counties across California entered and verified death information into the State’s data tracking system within 3.45 hours. El Dorado County entered and verified its local data on average within 1.25 hours. This is the second year in a row that El Dorado County’s Vital Statistics Office has received the efficiency award from the State.  

According to Maria Loera, Deputy Local Registrar for El Dorado County Vital Statistics, the award is meaningful because it shows that the agency and local mortuaries are focused on providing good customer service. “The sooner we can gather, enter and verify the information, the more quickly we can issue a death certificate for the family,” said Loera. “This really helps families take care of needs and have resolution sooner during a difficult time.” 

The El Dorado County Vital Statistics Office team works closely with local mortuaries and health care providers to receive and verify information needed for death certificates. The office registers births and deaths that occur in El Dorado County and issues death and birth certificates, as well as burial permits. The Vital Statistics Office is located in the Public Health building at 931 Spring Street in Placerville. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to Noon and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Blue Shield of California Foundation recognizes The Center for Violence-Free Relationships as a critical leader in California’s domestic violence field
 
EL DORADO COUNTY, CA - (August, 2016) - Blue Shield of California Foundation today announced a grant of $15,000 to The Center for Violence-Free Relationships to support its capacity to provide essential services and shelter for survivors of domestic violence and their families. These core operating funds offer the flexibility to respond to new demands and opportunities so that The Center for Violence-Free Relationships can continue to reach many of the most vulnerable Californians.
 
“Domestic violence can happen to anyone, and impacts everyone. Though we all have a role to play, it is organizations like The  Center that are there when women, children, men, and families need help the most,” said Peter Long, Ph.D., president and CEO of Blue Shield of California Foundation. “The Center for Violence-Free Relationships is making our communities safer and healthier every single day, and we remain committed to ensuring that they – and the entire field - have the resources and adaptability to support survivors and bring us closer to ending domestic violence in California.”
 
“It is wonderful when a donor such as Blue Shield of California Foundation understands and continues to support the needs nonprofits have for unrestricted funds,” stated The Center’s Executive Director Matt Huckabay. “These funds can be used to offset the expenses associated with maintaining an office so those in need can come to receive vital services.”
 
This unrestricted funding is part of a group of grants designed to strengthen and empower domestic violence service providers and enable them to adjust to unexpected changes and challenges. September 6, 2016 – November 30, 2016

The Transportation Division of El Dorado County’s Community Development Agency will close Alder Drive in Camino between Pony Express Trail and Cedar Drive beginning on Tuesday, September 6, 2016. The closure will remain in place for approximately 12 weeks, 24 hours per day, with the reopening planned for Wednesday, November 30, 2016.

This closure is necessary to ensure motorist and worker safety while the County’s contractor replaces the Alder Drive Bridge over the El Dorado Irrigation District canal with two (2) thirty (30) inch diameter culverts. A detour around the road closure will be clearly posted and in effect for the duration of the closure. Motorists are encouraged to be alert when entering the construction zone and watch for workers and equipment.

The County sincerely appreciates the cooperation and patience of motorists that use these roadway facilities.

Jennifer Wilson-Johnston was found deceased 4 days after the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office reported her missing.  Foul play in not suspected but the cause of death is under investigation.

Jennifer suffered from Multiple Sclerosis and had memory loss issues. She was 36 years old.

 Jennifer left her residence on foot from the Georgetown area on August 20, 2016 around 6:00 PM and had not been seen or heard from since.

 She was found near the area she was last known to have been.

[KARMA DICKERSON] EL DORADO HILLS -- An El Dorado Hills subdivision still has a “whites only” occupancy rule on the books.

The Lake Hills community’s shocking policy put in place in 1961 policy is not, and cannot legally be enforced, but some new residents are calling for its immediate removal.

The Foster family had barely closed the sale on their new home, when they were blown away by an old rule.

“I’m like, 'You gotta be kidding me, that’s ridiculous,'” Liese Foster said.

Their move from Folsom to El Dorado hills was just a matter or miles but, as far the neighborhood agreement they’d just signed, they might as well have been worlds or decades away.

"It was kind of awful and racist and terrible," Foster said.

Others who spoke with FOX40 used similar words to describe “Clause 13 Racial Occupancy” of the Lake Hills Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions, more commonly known as CC&Rs. They are similar to a homeowner’s association agreement.

“No person except those of the white Caucasian race shall occupy or reside upon any residential lot or plot in this subdivision, except when employed in the household of a white Caucasian tenant or owner," the clause reads.

“You have to sign off that you agree to these things”, said Liese Foster incredulously.

She and her husband Camaron had no idea that the CC&R’s contained racist restrictions until they were signing the closing documents, preparing to move into their new home.

Some longtime Lake Hills residents tell FOX40 they were aware of that rule, but didn’t pay it any mind since there are non-whites in the neighborhood and there doesn’t seem to be any effort to enforce the law. However the Fosters say that’s not the point.

“Everyone knows you can’t enforce that, but it still sends a message,” Foster said.

So they’re sending one right back.

That’s not the world we want our kids to grow up in,” Camaron Foster said.

Taking their outrage to community networking site Nexdoor.dot com, they’re raising awareness among neighbors. Some of them, like new resident Dwight Dennis, didn’t realize what they’d signed when they moved in.

“It should be reversed just to get it off the record”, said Holkko.

The motivation for the whites only policy according to the CC&R, is letting non-white residents would lower the property value of the community.

These rules have been on the books since the community was founded in 1961. And the person in charge of enforcing it says he had no idea.

“That’s really quite embarrassing”, Brent Dennis, general manager of the Eldorado Hills Community Services District, told FOX40.

Dennis has been with EHCSD, which handles rule enforcement for over 30 communities, four years and says he can’t explain why the rule was put in place.

However he tells FOX40 it’s not enforced, violates federal law, and his staff will correct the problem promptly. Dennis also says he’ll review the CC&Rs for the other El Dorado Hills Communities to make sure there are no other disturbing oversights.

The Fosters say they’ve gotten mixed messages about what it will take to change the CC&R’s. They say one long time Lake Hills resident and candidate for county supervisor told them they needed to circulate a petition and get more than half of the resident’s signatures. Another person told them to request the change through the county records office.

However Dennis tells FOX40 he will bring the issue to the CC&R committee’s meeting Monday, and he expects it will be removed at that time.

[Sergeant Tasha Thompson]  The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to search for leads regarding the mysterious disappearance of Justin Bonderer. Justin would have recently celebrated his 36th birthday and is missed by his family and friends.

Justin has been missing since April 6, 2015, under suspicious circumstances. Justin is a white male adult, 36 years old, about 5’ 11” tall, 180 pounds, with short brown hair and brown eyes. Justin was a long time resident of Georgetown before moving to Camino with his then girlfriend. Detectives were able to track Justin up through April 7th, 2015, where he was last seen in Placerville, possibly on his way to Camino.

On April 7th, 2015, the home Justin shared with his girlfriend in Camino was burned in a fire. Detectives confirmed Justin and his girlfriend were not at home during that time and Justin has not been seen or spoken to from this point.

On 8/27/16 at 12:24 am, Correctional Officers working in the El Dorado County Jail found inmate Dennis Renk (39 years old) unresponsive in his cell.  Renk has been in custody since November 6th, 2015, when he was arrested on charges of homicide after an altercation in Camino.

Renk was immediately treated by Correctional Officers, Jail Medical Staff, and transferred into the care of El Dorado County Fire Paramedics and he was transported to Marshall Hospital for further treatment.

The Sheriff’s Office initiated the Critical Incident Protocol, which is common with all in custody incidents of this nature.  Taking this action activates a multi-agency investigative team comprised of Sheriff Detectives, District Attorney Investigators, CHP Investigators, South Lake Tahoe PD Detectives, and Placerville PD Detectives), and provides for complete impartiality in the investigation.

At 4:13 pm, Renk was pronounced deceased by hospital staff.  The cause of his death is under investigation by the Critical Incident Protocol Team and by the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office Coroner Unit.

The four suspects forced entry into two separate homes and held the homeowners at gunpoint in El Dorado Hills. The four also attempted to force entry into another home but was not successful. The suspects were wearing masks and hooded sweatshirts and stole various items from the victims.

REPORT OF A HOME INVASION.

As patrol deputies were searching the area for the suspects, an alert deputy observed a vehicle with four men. He followed the vehicle for a short distance and believed it was possible it was related to the robberies. A traffic stop was conducted and all four men were detained.

Deputies observed guns, masks and several cell phones inside of the vehicle. Detectives quickly responded and conducted a thorough investigation.

All four men were arrested and booked into the El Dorado County Jail.
